I Have No Shame

MyBlog

I've been working through a lot of my own shame issues these last few months. I am amazed at how much it is used in our society. Recently in a discussion about public school and our grading system a person commented to me "but shame is a powerful motivator". I had never looked at it that way, but it is how we keep children in line in our schools, employees in their place at work, and how we relate to one another. How many times have you heard the phrase "he knows no shame" as an insult? We have a society where it is better to be in shame and accepted then not. We sit afraid to take a risk for the fear that we will look silly, foolish, crazy, naive, or ignorant. So we never write that book, ask that person out, try out for the play or the team or the band. We act like it is about responsibility, but it is not. If everyone took responsibility for themselves we would not live the way we do. We live the way we do to please other people, usually the ones we have built up in our own heads and projected on to someone else. I have decided I am done living in the shadow of shame. I will break into dance at random because it feels good. I will wear my fuzzy pink polka-dot pajama bottoms to the grocery store because I didn't feel like putting on jeans. I will follow my passion and let it guide me through a life filled with joy. If you would like to join me I will be on aisle 12. I'm the one wearing the pajama bottoms, with my three kids in costumes, buying some chips and soda.

Evolve Vision

evolve_visionImagine a world where money was no longer the means of exchange of services but rather love and enthusiasm as its primary exchange. A world full of love and so much diversity that each individual’s enthusiasm became the driving force behind one’s life work and one’s life work was as distinctive as one’s own fingerprint. A world where every job and every service had its own caretaker that performed its tasks with so much love and care they freely wanted to giveaway these services. Tell me? What would this world look like? A world of harmony and service where all needs were met and provided by someone that was just as equally grateful to give as well as they were ready to receive. A world of haves without the not’s. A world of abundance without the lack. A world of love without the suffering. Can you imagine this?
